Weird Westerns are stories set in the Wild West that contain elements of horror, fantasy or science fiction. They are sort of the bastard child of genre fiction. A lot of people are afraid of them--yes afraid of them. Afraid to read them. Afraid to publish them.
Pick one up. They're usually a good read and a rootin tootin good time.
I started editing, then writing these things a long time ago. I found myself, for a variety of reasons, becoming at least an amateur 19th century historian. I started putting fantastic elements into this environment and never looked back.
There are a lot of WW tales out there, but you have to look for them. They aren't, unfortunately, on the New York Times bestseller lists.
